Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

  • 1. Prepare all ingredients by dicing the onion, mincing the garlic, and measuring out liquids and spices.
  • 2. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat, then add ground beef and cook until browned.
  • 3. Add diced onion and cook until softened, then stir in garlic and cook until fragrant.
  • 4. Mix in Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper, stirring well to coat the beef evenly.
  • 5. Pour in diced tomatoes and tomato sauce, stirring to combine and letting flavors blend.
  • 6. Add uncooked orzo and beef broth, ensuring the orzo is submerged in liquid.
  • 7. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook while stirring occasionally until the orzo is tender.
  • 8. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top and transfer the skillet to the oven to bake until melted and slightly golden.
  • 9. Remove from oven, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

Stir the orzo occasionally during cooking to prevent sticking and ensure even texture.
Add a splash of broth when reheating leftovers to restore creaminess.
Let the dish rest for a few minutes after baking to allow flavors to settle and thicken.
