Ingredients

Scale

1 pound ground beef

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1 large egg

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons water

2 green onions, sliced

1 tablespoon sesame seeds

3 cups cooked white rice

Instructions

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, ginger, and a small splash of soy sauce until just combined.

2. Roll the mixture into evenly sized meatballs and place them on a plate or baking sheet.

3. Heat a skillet over medium heat with a small amount of oil and cook the meatballs until browned on all sides and fully cooked through.

4. In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil. Simmer over medium heat.

5. Mix cornstarch with water in a small bowl to create a slurry, then stir it into the sauce until thickened.

6. Add the cooked meatballs to the teriyaki sauce and toss until evenly coated.

7. Simmer the meatballs in the sauce for several minutes so the flavors blend together.

8. Serve the meatballs over cooked white rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the meatball mixture to keep the texture tender and juicy.

Fresh garlic and ginger provide the best flavor for homemade teriyaki sauce.

If the sauce becomes too thick, add a splash of water until the desired consistency is reached.
