Ingredients
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup warm whole milk
¼ cup unsalted butter melted
1 large egg
½ cup brown sugar
1 ½ tablespoons ground cinnamon
¼ cup unsalted butter softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2–3 tablespoons milk or cream
Instructions
1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit briefly, then add melted butter and egg and mix well.
2. Add flour and salt gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms.
3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rest for 15–20 minutes.
5. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl to prepare the filling.
6. Roll the dough into a 10×14 inch rectangle.
7. Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar evenly.
8. Roll tightly into a log and slice into even rolls.
9. Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 15–20 minutes.
10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18–22 minutes until golden.
11. Mix powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk to make the glaze.
12. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls and serve.
Notes
Use warm milk, not hot, to properly activate the yeast without killing it.
Do not overflour the dough, as a slightly sticky texture ensures soft rolls.
Let the rolls cool slightly before glazing so it melts perfectly without becoming too runny.
