Ingredients
2 cans refrigerated cinnamon roll dough
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
2 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
2 tablespoons caramel sauce
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a bundt pan thoroughly with butter or nonstick spray.
2. Open the cinnamon roll cans and cut each cinnamon roll into four equal pieces.
3. In a large bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Toss the dough pieces until evenly coated.
4. Arrange half of the coated dough pieces into the prepared bundt pan.
5. Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts between the layers if using.
6. Add the remaining dough pieces evenly on top.
7. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar until smooth and bubbling.
8. Stir in the vanilla extract and pour the mixture evenly over the dough.
9. Slowly pour the heavy cream over the layered dough pieces.
10. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown and fully cooked in the center.
11. Allow the monkey bread to cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
12. In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, softened cream cheese, and reserved icing from the cinnamon rolls until smooth.
13. Drizzle the glaze generously over the warm monkey bread.
14. Serve warm and enjoy the gooey pull-apart texture.
Notes
Use room-temperature ingredients for a softer and more evenly baked monkey bread.
Grease the bundt pan very well to prevent the caramel coating from sticking after baking.
Do not overbake the monkey bread or the dough may become dry instead of soft and gooey.
