Ingredients
For the Stir Fry:
- 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
- 1 red bell pepper, julienned
- 1 yellow bell pepper, julienned
- 1 zucchini, halved and sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (optional garnish)
For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- In a bowl, toss the sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and 1 tablespoon soy sauce. Set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together all sauce ingredients. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Sear the beef in batches for 1–2 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Add remaining oil to the pan. Stir fry bell peppers and zucchini for 3–4 minutes. Add garlic and ginger; cook for 30 seconds.
- Return beef to pan. Pour in the sauce and stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
