Ingredients
4 black tea bags
2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup water (for syrup)
4 cups water (for steeping)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Ice cubes, as needed
Fresh strawberry slices, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil, remove from heat, and steep the tea bags for 5–7 minutes. Discard tea bags and allow to cool slightly.
2. In a saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and 1/2 cup water. Simmer over medium heat for 10–15 minutes until the strawberries break down.
3. Strain the strawberry syrup using a fine mesh strainer, pressing down to extract all juice. Discard the solids or save for another use.
4. In a large pitcher, combine the brewed tea, strawberry syrup, and lemon juice. Stir well and taste. Adjust sweetness if needed.
5. Chill in the fridge for 1–2 hours, or serve immediately over ice. Garnish with strawberry slices or lemon wedges if desired.
Notes
For best results, use very ripe strawberries — they deliver the sweetest flavor.
Always strain the syrup well to avoid pulp in your tea.
If making ahead, store without ice to prevent dilution.
