Description

This Savoury Mince is a hearty, quick dinner idea perfect for busy weeknights or comforting weekend meals. Loaded with ground beef, sweet carrots, peas, onions, and a savory gravy, it makes an easy recipe that’s full of flavor and incredibly versatile. Whether you serve it with mashed potatoes, rice, or toast, this dish fits perfectly in your collection of quick meals, healthy snacks, or dinner ideas.

Ingredients

Scale

1 tbsp olive oil

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

500 g ground beef

2 medium carrots, diced

1 cup green peas

2 tbsp tomato paste

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1.5 cups beef stock

1 tbsp flour or cornstarch (for thickening)

Salt, to taste

Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 4–5 minutes.

2. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

3. Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Brown until no longer pink, about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.

4. Add diced carrots and cook for 5 minutes, then add peas and cook another 2–3 minutes.

5. Mix in tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well and cook for 2 minutes.

6. Pour in beef stock and bring to a gentle simmer. Let cook uncovered for 10–15 minutes to reduce slightly.

7. To thicken, mix flour or cornstarch with 2 tbsp cold water and stir into the mince. Simmer for 3–5 more minutes.

8. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or toast. Garnish if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of smoked paprika or chili flakes.

Use frozen mixed vegetables to speed up prep time.

Savoury mince thickens as it cools—add a splash of stock when reheating.
