- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 1/3 cup plain breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped (half for patties, half for gravy)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp butter
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, half the onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and form into oval patties.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add a drizzle of oil, and sear patties for 4–5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter. Add mushrooms and remaining onion. Cook until softened and golden, about 6–8 minutes.
- Sprinkle flour over mushroom mixture, stir well, and cook for 1–2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth and a splash of Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until slightly thickened.
- Return patties to the skillet. Cover and simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes until fully cooked.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.
