Ingredients

Scale

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, grated onion, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form the Meatballs: Roll the mixture into small meatballs (about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter).
  3. Brown the Meatballs: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. Make the Gravy: In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour to create a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes until golden. Gradually whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened.
  5. Simmer the Meatballs: Return the meatballs to the skillet, coating them in the gravy. Cover and simmer on low for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles. Enjoy!
