Description

Ingredients

3 ½ to 4 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup rolled oats

2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup warm milk

⅓ cup molasses

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey

1 large egg

1 egg + 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)

23 tablespoons rolled oats (for topping)


Instructions

1. Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until foamy.

2. Mix molasses, melted butter, and egg in a large bowl.

3. Add yeast mixture and stir until combined.

4. Mix flour, oats, and salt separately, then combine with wet ingredients.

5. Knead dough until smooth and elastic.

6. Let dough rise until doubled in size.

7. Divide and shape into rolls.

8. Arrange in baking dish and let rise again.

9. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle oats on top.

10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes.

11. Brush with butter and serve warm.


Notes

Use unsulfured molasses for the best flavor.

Do not over-flour the dough to keep rolls soft.

Allow proper rising time for light and fluffy texture.
