Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (85/15 preferred)
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or 1 cup shredded)
  • 4 hoagie rolls

Optional:

  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp cold water (for thickening)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
  2. Add diced onion and green bell pepper. Cook for 5–7 minutes until softened. Stir in minced garlic and cook 30 seconds more.
  3. Mix in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. (Optional) Stir in cornstarch slurry if mixture is too runny. Cook for another 1–2 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat to low, add provolone cheese, and stir until melted and creamy.
  6. Toast hoagie rolls until golden, then fill each with the hot beef mixture.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!
