Description
A creamy and flavorful Pepper-Parmesan Chicken Penne that combines tender pasta, juicy seared chicken, and a rich Parmesan-black pepper sauce. Ready in about 30 minutes — perfect for a comforting weeknight dinner or casual entertaining.
Ingredients
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ¾ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper (adjust to taste)
- Salt, to taste
- 3 slices cooked bacon, chopped (optional)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- Reserved pasta water (about ½ cup)
Instructions
-
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook penne according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain pasta.
-
Season chicken breasts with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
-
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 5–6 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through. Remove, rest for a few minutes, then slice.
-
In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
-
Add heavy cream, bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in Parmesan cheese and black pepper, whisking until cheese melts and sauce thickens slightly.
-
Add cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat. Stir in sliced chicken and cooked bacon (if using). Adjust sauce consistency with reserved pasta water as needed.
-
Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt or pepper.
-
Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan. Serve immediately.
