Ingredients

Scale

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract (divided)

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp heavy cream

1 cup chopped pecans

Whole pecans, for garnish (optional)

Dippers like graham crackers, apple slices, or vanilla wafers

Instructions

1. Beat softened cream cheese in a mixing bowl until smooth.

2. Add powdered sugar and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract; continue beating until fluffy.

3. Spread the cream cheese mixture into a shallow serving dish.

4. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and add brown sugar.

5. Stir constantly until mixture is bubbling and slightly thickened, about 3-4 minutes.

6. Add heavy cream and remaining 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. Cook another minute.

7. Remove from heat and stir in chopped pecans until coated.

8. Let topping cool slightly before spooning it over the cream cheese base.

9. Garnish with whole pecans if desired.

10. Chill for 30 minutes or serve immediately with your choice of dippers.

Notes

Let the pecan topping cool slightly before layering it on the cream cheese so it doesn’t melt.

Toast the pecans beforehand to deepen their flavor.

You can make this a day ahead — just garnish before serving.
