Ingredients
Scale
- 10–12 fresh jalapenos
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped green onions
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (for coating)
- 1 egg (optional, for dipping)
- Oil for frying (if frying)
Instructions
- Prepare the Jalapenos: Slice off the tops of the jalapenos, then cut them in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds and membranes using a spoon or small scoop.
- Make the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, cooked bacon, chopped green onions, garlic powder, and salt. Stir until fully combined.
- Stuff the Jalapenos: Spoon the cheese mixture into each jalapeno half, packing it gently but evenly.
- Coat the Poppers: Dip each stuffed jalapeno into beaten egg, then roll in breadcrumbs to coat the outside.
- Bake or Fry:
- To Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the poppers on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until the breadcrumbs are golden and the filling is bubbly.
- To Fry: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the poppers in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until crispy and golden. Drain on paper towels.
- Serve: Let the poppers cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
