- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 4 hoagie rolls or French bread, halved
- 4 tbsp butter, softened
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess grease.
- Add onions and garlic; sauté until translucent.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Mix butter with minced garlic and Italian seasoning. Spread on halved rolls.
- Toast bread in the oven for 5 minutes.
- Spoon meat mixture onto toasted bread. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Bake for another 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted.
- Garnish with parsley. Serve warm.
Notes
- Add red pepper flakes for heat.
- Substitute ground turkey for a leaner option.
