With a simple batter that bakes into a luscious pie with a crisp top and molten center, this treat is perfect for any occasion. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or enjoy it chilled for a dense, truffle-like texture. Either way, it’s sure to become a favorite in your dessert rotation.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Optional for serving: Vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, fresh berries.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish.

  2. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk sugar and eggs until light and creamy. Slowly add cooled melted butter and mix well.

  4. Sift cocoa powder, flour, and salt together. Gently fold into the wet mixture with a rubber spatula. Stir in vanilla extract.

  5. Pour batter into prepared pie dish and smooth the top.

  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until edges are set and center is slightly jiggly.

  7. Cool on a rack for 15–20 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature with desired toppings.
