Ingredients

Scale

1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs

0.5 cup cornstarch or all-purpose flour

0.25 tsp salt

0.25 tsp black pepper

1 large egg

Oil for frying

0.33 cup honey

0.25 cup soy sauce

2 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tbsp brown sugar

2 tsp sesame oil

2 garlic cloves minced

1 tsp grated fresh ginger

1 tbsp cornstarch

2 tbsp water

1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Sliced green onions (optional)

Instructions

1. Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces and pat them dry with paper towels.

2. Season chicken with salt and pepper, dip into beaten egg, then coat in cornstarch or flour.

3. Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

4. Fry chicken in batches, cooking 4–5 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate.

5. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.

6. In another bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry.

7. Pour sauce into a clean skillet and bring to a simmer. Stir in slurry and cook until thick and glossy.

8. Add chicken to sauce, tossing to coat thoroughly. Let it cook for 1–2 more minutes.

9. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and green onions (optional).

10. Serve immediately over rice, noodles, or vegetables.

Notes

Use chicken thighs for juicier results; breasts work too for a leaner option.

Double the sauce if serving with rice or noodles — it’s worth it.

Let chicken rest in the sauce for a minute to fully absorb flavor and thicken up.
