Ingredients
1 cup Amish Friendship Bread starter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 box (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon sugar)
1 teaspoon cinnamon (for cinnamon sugar)
2 tablespoons butter (for greasing pans)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease two standard loaf pans and coat with cinnamon sugar mixture, tapping out excess.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the starter, eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, pudding mix, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pans.
6. Sprinkle a generous layer of cinnamon sugar over the batter.
7. Pour the remaining batter on top and finish with more cinnamon sugar.
8. Use a knife to swirl the batter gently for a marbled effect.
9. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
10. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use room temperature eggs and milk for best results.
Make sure your starter is active and bubbly before using.
Let the bread cool fully before slicing to avoid a gummy texture.
