- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (or cheese of choice)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (like parsley, thyme, or rosemary)
- 1 cup milk (preferably whole milk)
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir in the shredded cheese and chopped herbs until well distributed.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter.
- Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour batter into prepared pan. Optionally, sprinkle extra cheese or herbs on top.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
