Description

Herb & Cheese Quick Bread is a savory, no-yeast loaf that blends sharp cheese and fresh herbs in a soft, golden crusted bread. It’s quick to prepare, easy to customize, and makes a perfect companion to soups, salads, or breakfast eggs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (or cheese of choice)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (like parsley, thyme, or rosemary)
  • 1 cup milk (preferably whole milk)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheese and chopped herbs until well distributed.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter.
  5. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan. Optionally, sprinkle extra cheese or herbs on top.
  7. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
