Description

Ground Beef Stroganoff is a creamy, comforting dish featuring tender ground beef, mushrooms, and onions in a rich sour cream sauce, served over buttery egg noodles. This one-pan meal is quick, easy, and packed with flavor—perfect for a cozy dinner at home.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 lb ground beef (85% or 90% lean)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 12 oz egg noodles
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Noodles: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain, toss with butter, and set aside.
  2. Brown the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess grease and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Vegetables: Melt butter in the same skillet. Add onions and cook until soft. Stir in garlic and mushrooms, cooking until mushrooms are tender.
  4. Make the Sauce: Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir to coat. Gradually pour in beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Combine Everything: Return the beef to the skillet and stir. Reduce heat to low and mix in sour cream until fully incorporated. Do not boil.
  6. Serve: Plate the cooked noodles and spoon the beef stroganoff over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!
