Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box: eggs, oil, and water)
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
  • 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare and bake the German chocolate cake according to package instructions.
  3. Once baked, allow the cake to cool slightly, then poke holes all over using the handle of a wooden spoon or a skewer.
  4. Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the cake, letting it seep into the holes.
  5. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the cake, ensuring it fills the holes.
  6. Sprinkle shredded coconut and chopped pecans evenly on top.
  7. To make the chocolate ganache, heat the heavy cream until hot but not boiling. Pour over the chocolate chips and stir until smooth.
  8. Pour the ganache over the cake, spreading it evenly.
  9. Let the cake cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
  10. Drizzle with extra caramel sauce if desired and enjoy!
