This easy recipe uses simple pantry staples to create a golden-fried treat filled with tangy cream cheese and fruity strawberry jam. Perfect for a quick breakfast, fun brunch, or a comforting late-night snack, this is one of those food ideas you’ll want to make again and again. Whether you’re looking for breakfast ideas, easy recipes for guests, or a sweet twist on a classic sandwich, this one delivers with minimal effort and major flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

2 slices white or brioche bread

2 tablespoons cream cheese

1 tablespoon strawberry jam

1 tablespoon softened butter

1 teaspoon powdered sugar (for topping)

Instructions

1. Soften cream cheese in a small bowl until smooth. Optionally stir in a drop of vanilla or pinch of lemon zest.

2. Spread cream cheese on one slice of bread and jam on the other. Press together to form a sandwich.

3. Butter the outside of both bread slices evenly.

4. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the sandwich and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crisp.

5. Let rest for 1 minute, then cut diagonally.

6. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.

Notes

Use thick, sturdy bread like brioche or challah for the best structure and flavor.

Don’t overload the filling—too much can leak out during frying.

Let the sandwich rest before cutting to keep the filling from spilling out immediately.
