Ingredients

Scale

1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)

¾ cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

½ teaspoon cotton candy extract

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Gel food coloring (pink, blue, purple)

¼ cup extra granulated sugar (for coating)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

3. In another large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).

4. Add egg, cotton candy extract, and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy.

5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until dough forms.

6. Divide dough into 3 portions and color each with gel food coloring.

7. Take small pieces of each color, swirl lightly, roll into a ball, and coat with sugar.

8. Place on baking sheet 2 inches apart and bake 10–12 minutes until edges are set.

9. Cool for 5 minutes on the sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

Use gel coloring to get bright swirls without affecting dough texture.

Don’t overbake—remove from oven when edges are just set.

Chill dough for 15 minutes if it’s too soft or sticky to roll.
