Description

Warm, cozy, and loaded with cinnamon-spiced apples, this Easy Apple Crisp is the perfect comfort dessert made with pantry staples. It’s one of the best quick desserts to make for any occasion, whether you’re searching for a weeknight treat, an easy recipe for fall, or something to impress guests at a dinner gathering. With a buttery, golden oat topping and tender baked apples underneath, it’s also a top pick for breakfast ideas or healthy snack options (especially when made with less sugar). Pair it with ice cream for the ultimate finish!

Ingredients

Scale

6 medium apples

2 teaspoons lemon juice

1/3 cup brown sugar (for apples)

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for apples)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)

1/2 cup rolled oats

1/3 cup brown sugar (for topping)

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples.

3. Toss sliced apples in a large bowl with lemon juice, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

4. In a separate bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly.

5. Pour the apple mixture into a greased 9×9-inch baking dish.

6. Spread the oat topping evenly over the apples.

7. Bake for 40–45 minutes or until the top is golden and the apples are tender and bubbling.

8. Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.

9. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for the best flavor and texture.

Keep the butter cold for a crunchier and more crumbly topping.

This dessert can be made a day ahead and reheated in the oven before serving.
