Description

Homemade chewy and fruity licorice ropes made with Kool-Aid drink mix for vibrant color and bold flavor. These colorful treats are easy, fun, and perfect for parties or gifting.


Ingredients

  • 2 packets unsweetened Kool-Aid (flavor of choice)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup water (divided)
  • 3 tablespoons unflavored gelatin
  • Cornstarch or all-purpose flour (for dusting)
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon citric acid or 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and dust lightly with cornstarch or flour.
  2. In a small bowl, combine gelatin with 1/4 cup of water and let it bloom for 5 minutes.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, corn syrup, remaining 1/2 cup water, and Kool-Aid. Stir until dissolved.
  4. Bring mixture to a gentle boil and simmer for 1–2 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and whisk in the bloomed gelatin until smooth.
  6. Let the mixture cool slightly until it thickens.
  7. Transfer to a piping bag fitted with a round tip or use a spoon to form ropes.
  8. Pipe onto the prepared sheet or roll into ropes by hand.
  9. Let sit at room temperature for 1–2 hours until fully set.
  10. Roll in sugar or additional cornstarch to finish.
