2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs

1/3 cup hoisin sauce

3 tablespoons soy sauce

3 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon brown sugar

4 cloves garlic minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon red food coloring optional


Instructions

1. In a medium bowl whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, Chinese five spice powder, black pepper, salt, and optional food coloring until smooth.

2. Pat the chicken dry and coat thoroughly with marinade.

3. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.

4. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a lined tray with rack.

5. Arrange chicken evenly and bake 20–25 minutes flipping halfway.

6. Brush with boiled reserved marinade during final minutes.

7. Broil 2–3 minutes for caramelization.

8. Cook until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

9. Rest 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving.
