Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • ¾ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
  • Fresh chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook penne until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain.
  2. In a deep skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1–2 minutes.
  3. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in heavy cream. Simmer until slightly thickened.
  4. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  5. Add cooked pasta to the sauce, tossing to coat. Add pasta water a bit at a time if the sauce is too thick.
  6. Garnish with chopped parsley and extra Parmesan. Serve hot.
