Description

This Chocolate Croissant Breakfast Bake is a rich and indulgent dish perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even dessert. Buttery croissants are soaked in a sweet vanilla custard, layered with melted chocolate, and baked to golden perfection. With its crispy top and soft, custard-filled center, this easy-to-make bake is guaranteed to impress!

Ingredients

Scale

  • 6 large croissants (preferably day-old), cut into halves or large chunks
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks or chocolate chips (milk or dark)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Arrange the croissants in the baking dish, layering them with chocolate chunks.
  3. Prepare the custard by whisking together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon (if using) until smooth.
  4. Pour the custard evenly over the croissants, pressing them down slightly to soak up the liquid. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  5. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the center.
  6. Cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving warm.
