Ingredients
1 pound fresh green beans
6 slices bacon, chopped
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
1. Slice bacon into bite-sized pieces and cook in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
2. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Blanch green beans for 4–5 minutes until just tender. Transfer to an ice bath, then drain well.
3. In the same skillet with bacon drippings, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, soy sauce, and garlic powder. Cook for 2 minutes until thickened.
4. Add blanched green beans to the skillet. Toss to coat in glaze.
5. Stir in cooked bacon and sauté for 2–3 minutes until beans are heated through and fully coated.
6. Serve immediately while hot and sticky with extra bacon crumbles on top if desired.
Notes
Be sure to blanch the beans and cool them quickly in an ice bath to preserve color and texture.
Taste and adjust the glaze before adding the beans; a little extra soy sauce or sugar can tailor it to your taste.
For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon and use smoked paprika to add depth.
