Ingredients

Scale

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

4 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 1/2 cups whole milk

2 large eggs

1 tbsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)

2 large apples (peeled and diced)

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 cup brown sugar

2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)

1 cup powdered sugar

2-3 tbsp milk

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Toss diced apples with 1/3 cup sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 1 tbsp flour. Set aside.

2. Whisk together flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.

3. In a separate bowl, mix milk, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter. Combine wet and dry ingredients.

4. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Add half the batter, then half the apple mixture, then spoon half the cinnamon swirl. Swirl with a knife.

5. Repeat layering with remaining batter, apples, and cinnamon swirl. Swirl again.

6. Bake at 350°F for 45–50 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

7. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make glaze. Adjust consistency as needed.

8. Let cake cool for 10–15 minutes, then drizzle with glaze and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For best flavor balance, always use tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.

Avoid overmixing the batter to keep the cake light and fluffy.

Let the cake cool slightly before glazing to ensure it sets beautifully on top.
