Ingredients
- 1 medium head cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup non-dairy milk (or water)
- Cooking spray or oil for air fryer basket
For the Sesame Sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water (slurry)
Garnish:
- Toasted sesame seeds
- Chopped green onions
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Slowly whisk in the non-dairy milk or water until a smooth, thick batter forms.
- Toss cauliflower florets in the batter until fully coated. Let excess batter drip off before placing in air fryer.
- Arrange battered florets in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Spray lightly with oil.
- Air fry for 15–18 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
- While cauliflower cooks, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sriracha, and sesame oil in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer.
- Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until sauce thickens. Remove from heat.
- Once cauliflower is done, place in a mixing bowl. Pour sauce over and toss to coat evenly.
