Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium head cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup non-dairy milk (or water)
  • Cooking spray or oil for air fryer basket

For the Sesame Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water (slurry)

Garnish:

  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Slowly whisk in the non-dairy milk or water until a smooth, thick batter forms.
  4. Toss cauliflower florets in the batter until fully coated. Let excess batter drip off before placing in air fryer.
  5. Arrange battered florets in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Spray lightly with oil.
  6. Air fry for 15–18 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
  7. While cauliflower cooks, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sriracha, and sesame oil in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer.
  8. Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until sauce thickens. Remove from heat.
  9. Once cauliflower is done, place in a mixing bowl. Pour sauce over and toss to coat evenly.
  10. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve immediately.
